“Lesson” Learned From Astronaut Scott Kelly’s on How to STOP Your Back Pain Now…
U.S. astronaut Scott Kelly literally stands two inches taller after his recent 340-day stint in zero gravity, what a great way to stop your back pain.
In space, there’s no gravity to create pressure on your spine like on Earth. Without this everyday force which compresses your spinal discs the ligaments and muscles holding your spine erect relax, spinal discs reabsorb cushioning water, oxygen, and nutrients, while the spine gently elongates to its full natural length.
But, back home on Earth, he’ll gradually shrink back to “normal” size. We all go through the same process every day.
Your Own Human Experiment
You can observe the same effect for yourself if you measure your height at night before bed and again when you wake up in the morning. You’ll likely find you’ve grown one-half to three-quarter inches by the next morning!
As you sleep each night, 75% -80% of the compressive forces of gravity are removed from your spine. As your spine relaxes during your sleep spinal discs absorb most of the fluid squeezed out during the day (a process called imbibition). A great reason to get a good night’s sleep to help stop your back pain.
Of course, lying on your back, side or stomach doesn’t remove all the compressive forces of gravity. Over a lifetime, the cumulative effects of gravitational spinal compression will cause you to measure up to two or more inches less than when you were younger.
Think of your spinal discs as jelly donuts and gravity as a heavyweight compressing and smooshing down on the center causing the outer layers to expand out. Eventually, the pressure becomes too much – “suddenly” you experience pain as the jelly-like core of your spinal disc herniates through the wall of the disc.
Even light pressure on one of those spinal nerves can cause instant, sharp, severe back pain, sciatica, and additional damaging health effects. (Because your nervous system controls the proper function of every cell in your body and not just you feel pain…)
How to Relieve YOUR Back Pain Without Going Up To Space
Now in Miami Coral Gables imagine being able to stop your back pain… Now Imagine being able to remove almost ALL of your daily gravitational compression… off your spine. Just like astronauts in outer space.
Do you think that might help stop your back pain?
You bet it would!
And the best news is… you can decompress your spine without training for NASA’s program.
There are specialized devices that have been around since 1996 found only in very few specialized offices such as the top of the line Accuspina which uses a decompression protocol to decompress your spine. It’s one of the MOST effective pieces of equipment available on the market today to help disc pain sufferers avoid surgery.
It is now being utilized by top athletes and non-athletes alike that want to avoid surgery, drugs or epidural shots.
In the last 12 years, our patients have enjoyed this alternative treatment method with a very high success rate (92%-95%) when they followed our specific protocol, helping them get off drugs, stop the needs for epidurals and avoiding surgery almost altogether.
Most have returned to their activities, sports and competitions (especially our pro Basketball, Hockey and Football players).
If you suffer from bulging, herniated, degenerative discs, sciatica, facet arthrosis, spinal stenosis or even failed-back surgery and want to AVOID surgery, epidurals and pain medications that only treat the surface of the problem, this is the most viable alternative neck and back pain treatment gaining more and more momentum and popularity with patient seeking the absolute alternative to surgery…
Unfortunately, the examples of surgery are out there… Like Tiger Woods who just went for his fourth surgery and this time it was a spinal fusion.
Some think that surgery is the ultimate answer … but here we have an amazing athlete who can afford the best of care and has now undergone 4 surgeries… if the first three didn’t solve his problem… well, you know the rest…
More surgeries are usually not the answer to stop your back pain because each one causes more scar tissue formation and additional damage to the area involved.
Surgery tries to relieve the pain caused by disc pressure but does not address many other components that need to exist to maintain your best spinal functional health and keep you out of back pain.
That is the difference our patients tell us that they have found by coming to our center and regaining their lives again.
